Florida College Professor Fired After Tweeting Harvey Is Karma For Texas

Flooding As Harvey Plunges Houston's Thriving Economy Into Years-Long Crisis

A Florida college professor has been fired after tweeting that Texans are suffering through Harvey as "Instant Karma" for voting Republican.

Kenneth Storey was an assistant professor at the University of Tampa, a private college, when he tweeted Sunday night, "I dont believe in instant karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesnt care about them."

He later apologized, saying he "never meant ill will upon any group" and said he was referring to the "GOP denial of climate change science and push to decrease funds from agencies that can help in a time like this."

Initially the school didn't take action, posting on Facebook that Storey's comments were made on his private social media account and didn't represent the university's views.

But Tuesday, UT released a statement saying the professor had been relieved of his duties.
