Protecting The Palm Beaches: PBC Sheriff Looks Back On Irma

We check back in with Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw who joined us during coverage of Hurricane Irma to give us updates on curfews.  He says, overall, things went smoothly.

"We did have some issues up here but we were on it and the deputies and local law enforcement did a good job at making sure that when the curfew was on that the people that were out there belonged out there."

The sheriff says the arrests were minimal.

"There were like 170-something arrests that we made, but that's a misleading number because I think 90-something of them were actually people that we arrested for an original charge that wasn't the curfew."

Those charges included burglary, drug dealing and DUI.

He credits a team effort for keeping locals safe during and after the storm, including all law enforcement throughout the county, emergency management officials and elected leaders.

As for lessons learned that can be implemented when the next storm moves in?  We covered that as well and it's in the above interview.
