Researchers at Loggerhead Marinelife Center say thousands of sea turtle nests have been destroyed on Palm Beach County beaches due to Hurricane Irma and other recent storms, due to the waves they've whipped up.
An estimated 200,000 eggs are believed to have been destroyed just on the stretch of beach that the Marinlelife Center watches over in the north county area. Beachgoers who notice disoriented hatchlings to contact the center.
We've spoken with the folks at Loggerhead who tell us this has been a record-breaking sea turtle nesting season, which continues until October 31st.
