Tropical Depression 16 Has Formed

Tropical Depression 16 Map

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression 16 has formed in the southwestern Caribbean that is forecast to move north into the Gulf of Mexico by the weekend.  

The official forecast track has it becoming a hurricane by late in the weekend and affecting portions of Florida, including the panhandle, by Sunday.

The system is forecast to become Tropical Storm Nate by late Wednesday.
