Brightline's eventual run from Miami to Orlando is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The rail service from All Aboard Florida plans to launch the first phase from Miami to West Palm Beach sometime this year, with a stop in Fort Lauderdale along the way, but the stretch from here to Central Florida has been put on hold by lawsuits.
A judge has denied a challenge from Martin and St. Lucie Counties to an environmental resource permit.
The ruling means that water management-related modifications will be allowed at more than 23 crossings from Palm Beach County through the Treasure Coast. It will also allow for construction and operation of a stormwater-management system.
Meanwhile, the latest built Brightline train, named "BrightRed," has arrived in West Palm from its manufacturer in California.
That's the fifth and final train that the rail service plans to use when it launches.
