Palm Beach Gardens Voters Could Soon Vote On Term Limits...Again

Residents of the city of Palm Beach Gardens could vote in March on whether to overturn term limits they approved three years ago.

A committee has been reviewing the city charter and held a public hearing last week, where many people against the possible changes showed up.

Among the recommendations made by the committee would be an increase in the number of uninterrupted three-year terms a city council member can serve from two to three.  They also recommend a change that would allow term-limited council members to run for office again if they sit out for three years.

Supporters of the Palm Beach Gardens Needs Term Limits committee reportedly wore stickers featuring the words "Don't Touch my term limits."

The council has given approval to have the city attorney come up with the language that would appear on the ballot.  Council members would likely meet again with residents before a vote on whether to place the questions on the ballot.
