UF Gets Ready For White Nationalist, Gov. Scott Defends State Of Emergency

Security is tight at University of Florida ahead of a speech Thursday by white nationalist Richard Spencer.

Hundreds of State Troopers are there providing security, as well as other county and Gainesville law enforcement officers.

Governor Scott has declared a State of Emergency in Alachua County because Spencer's speeches in other states have led to protests, counter protests, violence, civil unrest and numerous arrests.

Scott says he supports everyone's First Amendment rights, but he's defending his decision to declare a state of emergency.

Spencer says the governor's declaration is overkill and an attempt to shut down his speech.

Spencer has shared multiple posts on Twitter comparing himself to a hurricane about to hit Florida.
