West Palm Beach Police Chief Sarah Mooney talks about the continued anti-police sentiment among players in the NFL and others who believe police brutality is much more prevalent than the statistics would prove.
"It's difficult for the officers because we really bare the burden of any kind of wrongdoing or allegation of wrongdoing anywhere in the country related to law enforcement. It's not to say that we're perfect, but we do try."
That's why the chief says her department is always getting out into the community.
"The more events we do, the more opportunities we have for people to come out, see what we do, see what we're all about...meet the people who are actually the officers in their neighborhoods. I think it does nothing but strengthen the communication and the bonds between the citizens and the officers and it kind of gives them a little bit more insight to the fact that it's not just a bunch of blue uniforms running around. It's actually people in the uniforms that care about what they do, day in and day out."
This week, West Palm Beach officers showed up at a local school and a community health fair.
