Brightline has released its train schedule and prices for its introductory service from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale.
Riders can book service beginning Saturday morning with one way fares costing $10 for what's called "smart service," including a 19 inch wide seat. $15 gets riders "select service," which offers wider seats and complimentary snacks and beverages, along with free parking.
Meanwhile, it will take four to six months before quiet zones are put into place along the FEC tracks.
West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio is meeting with Brightline officials Thursday to discuss this and find out if there is any way of speeding up that timeline.
Brightline will extend its service to Miami later this year, and trains will eventually run to Orlando.
While the cost of a ride from downtown West Palm Beach to downtown Fort Lauderdale is around twice what a Tri-Rail ticket costs for the same route, Brightline says their rail service will take around half the time, since there are no stops between the two cities.
According to the schedule, the ride is no longer than 40 minutes.
