Florida snake hunters have collected their 1,000th python as part of the South Florida Water Management District's Python Elimination Program.
The state has been paying hunters to capture and kill the invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades since March of last year.
Hunter Brian Hargrove recently collected python number 1,000 and the weighing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday.
The District posted the ceremony on Facebook Live.
The male snake Hargrove wrangled in was 11 feet, 2 inches long and weighed 32 pounds. That works out to be longer than the majority of Burmese pythons brought in.
If you lined up all of the snakes that were eliminated as part of this program, end to end they would stretch well over a mile long.
A spokesman for the South Florida Water Management District says that hunters have already caught another 10 or so pythons since Hargrove brought in the 1,000th snake early Saturday morning and the program continues.
