Police Body Cam Footage Of Rooftop Rescue In Delray Beach

Two young children are in DCF custody and their mother is hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation after a weekend incident.

Police body cam video captured the whole thing in Delray Beach on Saturday.

Police took a call about a 23-year old woman acting erratically on the roof of a townhouse with her one and three year old kids.  One officer tried to convince the woman to move the children off the narrow ledge above the garage of the home as two others went up to the window of a second floor bedroom to get outside.  Police say the woman refused to listen to officers and appeared paranoid.

The children were eventually pulled inside the home and the mother was taken into custody.

Sergeant Mike Debree grabbed the children and helped get them to an open window.  Sergeant Brian Griffith held onto the woman, keeping her from doing what she was threatening to do, which was to jump from the ledge.

She claimed to have taken the drug Molly, which caused her to hallucinate and was Baker Acted.

The Department of Children and Families says the woman will be arrested once she is released from the hospital and police say criminal charges are pending.
