Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Donald Fennoy wants to close schools to students on August 28th.
That's the date of our state's primary and 118 public schools in the county are used as polling places.
The school board will vote Wednesday on whether to make that Tuesday a teacher workday.
Palm Beach County's Elections officials say they already work to keep voters separated from students, but there is more of a concern in the wake of the Parkland school shooting about allowing access to campus while students are in attendance.
The president of the local teachers' union is in favor of creating a teacher work day since the proposal wouldn't alter the rest of the calendar.
The school board previously approved a day off for students for the general election on November 6th.
