School starts a week from Monday and Palm Beach County parents have a new way to stay on top of their kids' grades.
The Student Information System Gateway replaces Edline, which didn't do as many things as this new system does, according to those who have tested it out. For instance, the SIS will allow parents to check on multiple children from the same login and they'll have access to daily attendance information.
Eight middle and high schools were using it for a couple of months during the past school year, but it goes district-wide when it launches Monday.
Teachers, students and parents can use the Gateway on their computers or smart phones and there is an app. Parents are getting letters in the mail with login instructions.
The district's contract with Edline came to an end, but adapting this new program is not costing any additional money, since it has been part of a records and grade-keeping system that schools had already bought and have been using for more than a year.
