Jupiter Restaurants Being Asked To Stop Using Plastic Straws

Plastic Straws on the Beach

Jupiter town leaders have passed a non-binding resolution to encourage restaurants to abandon plastic straws and other kinds of plastic.

The Town Council voted Thursday night after Jupiter's Beach Committee heard last month from supporters of a complete ban on plastic straws.  The advisory board stopped short of signing off on a  ban, instead settling on a resolution that encourages the use of paper straws.

In recent months, several businesses and communities around the country have said they would ban plastic straws due to environmental concerns.
