CDC To Pet Owners: Keep Animals Away From Toxic Algae

Toxic Red Tide On Florida's Southwest Coast Killing Hundreds Of Turtles And Fish

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning pet and livestock owners to keep their animals away from any potential toxic algae blooms.  

One Martin County pet owner has reported her two golden retrievers fell sick after coming into contact with the blue-green algae.  

Another dog died last week after taking a dip into the St. Lucie River.  

The CDC says pet owners should contact their veterinarian and the health department to report any sickness due to toxic algae.
