Girl Meets Deputies Who Rescued Her From A Ditch In Tampa

For Protecting the Palm Beaches we honor the deputies of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office who made national news for their New Year's Day rescue of a woman.

20-year old Amanda Antonio was driving along I-4 near the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa very early that morning when another vehicle cut her off.  She veered off the highway and into a ditch that was filled with water and muck.

The woman's car was upside down when she called for help.  Emergency dispatchers kept her on the phone as 13 patrol units looked for her in the thick fog, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office.

At one point, Amanda said the water was up to her neck.

Deputies Chris Sullivan and Jeremy Pollack were able to fight through the mud she was encased in and rescue her.

Antonio is at home in good condition.
