Albert Moreschi, President of the Jupiter-Tequesta Repeater Group, spent some time with me, talking about HAM Radio and the event this weekend called "Field Day" sponsored by the American Radio Relay League.
The event is held on the fourth full weekend in June each year and it's going on around the nation.
The local event is happening from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carlin Park Civic Center in Jupiter.
People who are curious about what HAM Radio is all about can stop by, watch an emergency broadcast simulation go on over a 24-hour period and enjoy some food.
You can also try HAM Radio out for yourself to see if it's something you may want to take up as a hobby.
Albert tells us it's not only about having fun, amateur radio broadcasters helped Palm Beach County residents in the wake of the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes when other forms of communication were down.
