Palm Beach Gardens turned 60 last week and on Saturday night, city leaders want residents to join them.
"We're going to be doubling up...two events at one. We're going to do a grand opening of the (North County) District Park and following that at 8 o'clock we're going to do a Birthday Celebration for the City of Palm Beach Gardens, followed by fireworks, weather permitting. And there will be food trucks and a lot of great opportunities and family fun days and we invite everyone to come out."
Mayor Mark Marciano says the North County District Park is meant for all north county residents to enjoy.
"We have a number of soccer fields that we're able to dedicate to the city now. There's a splash pad for children. It's a great park that we've been working on with the county for quite some time."
The city will operate the park, which is on Palm Beach County owned land off Central Boulevard, north of PGA Boulevard.
It was built with money from the sales tax increase approved by voters in 2016.
