Florida's back to school sales tax holiday is underway.
James Miller from the Florida Retail Federation says you don't need a student ID.
"This is for people of all ages. Everyone should go out, if you've been holding off on purchasing something...whether it be a technology item or just clothes, this is the weekend to do it. Go out and get it and save money."
The big difference this year over last is that it covers computers and accessories. That was not the case in 2018 and the savings are good on computers priced up to $1,000, which is the highest threshold ever.
There is also no sales tax on clothing selling for $60 or less and certain school supplies costing up to $15 per item.
Miller says Florida consumers will save almost $50 million over the next several days.
"We expect the K through 12 parent to spend upwards of $700. We expect the parent who has a kid in college to spend close to $1,000. So, it's significant spending for Floridians and a nice tax relief."
The sales tax holiday wraps up at midnight Tuesday night.
