Imagine being in an emergency situation and not being able to dial 911. That was a scary reality for people in the Tampa area Wednesday.
911 service was interrupted in three counties, including Hillsborough, because of a problem caused by road work in Clewiston. Frontier Communications says a computer and a backup computer that transmit emergency calls went offline when Century Link workers were moving cables along State Road 80.
The computers were mistakenly on the same network and Frontier says it will make sure the two routers are now separated.
