Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin Lays Off 120 In Palm Beach County

Defense Department Approves F-22 Production

Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin has laid off around 120 employees at it's northern Palm Beach County plant.

The company announced back in July that it would be consolidating operations and wouldn't be renewing its lease on the Florida Assembly and Flight Operations facility and initially expected that to impact 500 employees.

A statement from the company on Wednesday said they were able to reduce that number to about 120 due to attrition and aggressive job placement efforts.  Some of the workers were transferred to jobs within other Lockhee Martin businesses.

The company said it will continue to operate the Development Flight Center on the same campus, which staffs 600 employees.
