Florida has its first director of cannabis.
The state Commissioner of Agriculture, Nikki Fried, named Holly Bell to serve in the role.
She will be expected to help pass legislation to regulate hemp in the state. Bell's job is to develop Florida’s industrial hemp industry. She says it will be the next big cash crop in our state.
She'll also monitor the Department of Health on medical marijuana and work with the Division of Food Safety on new rules for edible versions of medical cannabis.
Bell, a Nashville consultant and banker, will receive an annual salary of $110,000.
