Keith James Elected Mayor Of West Palm Beach After Recount

California Citizens Take Part In Early Voting

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — After a voting recount, Keith James is the Mayor of West Palm Beach after a machine recount.

Commissioner Keith James won with a majority of the vote (50.38) although it was not within the threshold of .5% so under Florida statute it will move forward with recount against commissioner Paula Ryan.

His opponent, Paula Ryan, said, "I am happy to see that my opponent, the winner of this election has adopted many aspects of our vision. I look forward to seeing him be successful and if there is any way I can help I stand ready to work for our great City."

Original Story:

While West Palm Beach Commissioner Keith James' vote tally on Tuesday was 21 percent above the votes captured by fellow Commissioner Paula Ryan, his 50.38 percent vote count was called into question.

The canvassing board determined that because it was below 50.5 percent, a recount should be conducted.

If the machine recount shows James with a lead of below .25 percent, a hand recount would be conducted.

If a run-off election is needed, that will occur on March 26.
