A soldier born in Boynton Beach and raised in Palm Beach Gardens and killed in a suicide bombing in Syria will be honored by Palm Beach County this weekend.
U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Jonathan Farmer was one of four Americans who died in the blast in January, leaving behind a wife and four children, as well as his parents who still live in Palm Beach Gardens.
Farmer attended the Benjamin School and graduated in 1999.
County leaders on Saturday will unveil his name on the Global War on terror Memorial at Lake Lytal Park in West Palm Beach. The memorial in the Armed Forces Park Plaza honors men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Farmer is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
