Suspended Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes has rescinded her resignation and her attorney says she will fight Governor Rick Scott quote "to the very end."
The governor on Friday suspended Snipes who had already agreed to step down in early January, even though her term doesn’t end until 2020. This followed the November midterms which featured a number of mishaps, including missing ballots and missed recount deadlines.
In an executive order, the governor said the suspension was based on misfeasance, incompetence and neglect of duty.
Scott replaced Snipes with Peter Antonacci, who has been president of Florida's economic development agency since last year.
Antonacci is a name familiar to many in Palm Beach County. In March 2012, Scott appointed him to complete the term of State Attorney Michael McAuliffe, who had left for the private sector. Antonacci was later the governor’s general counsel and has served as executive director of the South Florida Water Management District.
