Man Calls FHP Trooper Struck By Car A Hero For Saving His Life

A Treasure Coast man credits a Florida Highway Patrol trooper with saving his life.  It happened yesterday morning on 95 in Martin County where Rony Bottex was standing next to Trooper Mithil Patel after an earlier accident.  A van struck a a car, sending the vehicle toward the men.  That's when 31-year old Patel pushed Bottex out of the way before the car struck Patel, flipping the trooper into the air.

31-year-old Patel is in good condition at St. Mary’s Medical Center, and Bottex, who suffered a knee injury, says he'd be dead if it wasn't for the heroic trooper.  He hopes to thank Patel in person someday.
