MSD Football Coach Quits, Says Tragedy Has Greatly Affected Him

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

The head coach of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School's football team is leaving for emotional reasons.

Willis May says he has resigned after six seasons with the school in Parkland because of the emotions he's been dealing with since the shooting in 2018 that left 17 students and staffers dead.

Those include May's assistant coach Aaron Feis, who also worked as a security guard at the school, along with athletic director Chris Hixon.

May has said in part that “it’s sad going to work every day because it hurts so bad to be without them. I need a change for me. I need it for my health.”
