The Better Border President, Closed Case in Fulton County & A Pelican Story

The Better Border President, A Closed Case in Fulton County & A Pelican Story - Top 3 Takeaways – March 1st, 2024

  1. Keep our name out of your mouth. That was the message from the National Border Patrol Council to President Biden as he made his way to literally the least trafficked of the southern border sectors in Brownsville, Texas for a photo op Thursday. The NBPC, has made no bones about the fact that they loathe President Biden’s polices and frankly, the president, a la their statement earlier this week: How many Joe Biden? When will you have seen enough murder, rape, theft and anarchy to quench your thirst for political power? When will you show one ounce of remorse for your victims (and make no mistake, you're responsible for all of them). You are a national embarrassment. On Thursday, the statements for Border Patrol – as they were ordered to stand behind the president in Brownsville, were these: Attention President Biden: Keep our name out of your mouth today. And this: President Trump treats BP agents with respect, supports their mission and listens to their ideas. Biden falsely accuses agents of crimes, burned the border to the ground and only listens to his radical leftist base. See the difference? And the difference was on full display as President Trump went to ground zero of the border crisis in Eagle Pass, Texas with Border Patrol agents who wanted to be there with him and that are longing for a return to his policies. Here’s a quick refresh on the difference the policy of a president can make. During the four years of the Trump administration crimes committed by “noncitizens” declined by 71%. During the first three years of the Biden administration crimes committed by noncitizens have risen by 95% to record levels. During the Trump administration with crimes committed via “noncitizens” we saw a 70% decrease in assaults, a 76% decrease in burglaries, a 77% decrease in DUIs, a 69% decrease in drug trafficking, a 72% decrease in illegal entries, a 72% decrease in illegal weapons and the lowest of measured levels of homicide and manslaughter attributed to noncitizens in recorded American history with only 11 total during his four years in office. Under the Biden administration through only three years, we’ve already experienced a 603% increase in assaults, a 604% increase in burglaries, a 685% increase DUIs, a 532% increase in drug trafficking, a 697% increase in illegal entries, a 627% increase in illegal weapons and a 1,888% increase in the homicide and manslaughter rate to the highest levels in recorded American history. You might say the question about who has border credibility is...
  2. Case closed. Today is the day for closing arguments in the Fulton County Georgia Superior Court to determine whether Fani Willis, and her lover, will be able to prosecute the cases brought against Donald Trump and company. It was in my takeaways two weeks ago today that I described what went down in that court room as the equivalent of legal rubber necking. As I said at the time: Nathan Wade, the prosecutor in question, tried as he might to avoid giving direct answers, but in the end testified to having documentation for extensive personal travel with DA Willis, though he claims he was paid back in cash. Maybe by cash he means... And then there was the decision by the DA to take the stand herself. It’s hard to put to words just how damaging her testimony was to her credibility. If anyone ever wondered if you need to be wicked smart to pass the bar and super impressive to become a DA... Just watch what happened in the Fulton County courtroom yesterday. Anyway, here’s the irony. Not only is the entire Fulton County case in jeopardy of going away, so too could Willis herself at the end of all of this. She wanted this trial to try to make her mark politically as being the D.A. who took Trump down. In the end she might just lose her case but potentially her job and more. She got what she wanted with her Trump trial, and it just might take her down and Nathan Wade too, his testimony was self-incriminating. After yesterday’s festivities in Atlanta, I’m of the belief that Wade and Willis have more legal jeopardy in the Trump & co. cases, than Trump does. What’s changed since then has only made the legal circus worse. Phone records that prove that Wade was at Willis’ residence all night, many nights, well in advance of being hired at above market rates to prosecute the case. Records that directly contradict the under-oath testimony of both Willis and Wade...and another awful attorney to add into the mix that’s only made the prosecution’s matters worse. Terrence Bradley, Nathan Wade’s one-time legal partner and divorce attorney was shown to have texted – unprompted – the defense attorney in this case stating that in fact Wade and Willis’ affair started years in advance of his being hired as a special prosecutor in the Trump case. Revelations so bad that he said “oh dang” under his breath on the stand when confronted with it. From there he only further eroded his credibility by saying he had “speculated” in making those statements. Well, I’m going to do a little speculating of my own. Today is the day for closing arguments to see if these obviously corrupt “officers of the court” will be able to address the court in the Trump case. The answer is obviously no. Case closed. But they may have their own future court dates where they need their own defense attorneys. With the Supreme Court having already decided to take up the Trump presidential immunity case, which prevents the January 6th case from taking place until decided, it will prove to have been a great legal week for the former and perhaps future President of the United States.
  3. It's time to do better. My third takeaway today doesn’t have anything to do with news of the day, but it does have to do with a subject I’m every bit as passionate about. Some have seen the video of the pelican (pictured) I attempted to rescue last Sunday. Wrapped in fishing line when I found her, the beautiful brown pelican had a large hook stuck in her left foot and through her right wing. As heart breaking as it was to find her in that condition, I grew optimistic as I was able to cut the line and remove the hooks to seemingly free her. But when she didn’t want to fly away, I knew there was likely a bigger issue. So, for the second time in about three months I made my way to Busch Wildlife with a legally protected bird that was fighting for its life because of the careless actions of others. And for the second time in as many tries it was too late. When I posted the video, I said I’d provide an update. Here's that update via a note from Busch Wildlife: I sincerely wish I had better news for you. In addition to the hooks you saw externally, she had also swallowed hooks that were lodged in her GI tract. Surgery was necessary to remove them. While we did our best to stabilize her with antibiotics, pain meds, IV fluids and thermal support, unfortunately there was so much internal damage that she passed away during the procedure. First, to the folks at Busch Wildlife – thank you for all that you do every day. Second, if you’ve never been over to see them, and/or haven’t been to their newer location off Indiantown Road, it’s worth your time to do so. They’re more than worthy of your support and you’re sure to have a great experience while there. Second, for everyone else that enjoys our beaches and waterways. Please try to do better. Most days that I go home and venture out back I’m blessed to see dozens of species of birds. And during extended cycles when the Army Corps of Engineers isn’t poisoning our waterways with discharges from Lake O’, I’ll often see all manner of sea life from dolphins and sharks to sea turtles to manatees to even on a rare occasion Spotted Eagle Rays. But what I also see among them are reckless boaters and fishermen often with items carelessly left behind that can and too often do kill them. For those who responsibly enjoy nature – thank you. For all others, and so that something constructive can come out of these sad events, it's time to do better. The animals deserve it.
