Hysterical Headlines for July 2nd – Democratic wave in Florida?

Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for July 2nd  Democratic wave in Florida? Get your bogie board

Bottom Line: Your daily doses of nonsense in the media and my takes on them...

Excerpt: Democrats agree that a good showing in Florida this November is a top priority if the party wants to reassert its power and combat the Republican party under Donald Trump.

They just aren't quite on the same page about the path: Does it run near the center or farther to the left?

The pull-and-tug in Florida's minority party was subtle Saturday as party leaders met in Hollywood for their annual leadership conference. Despite optimism following a spate of victories in competitive special elections – and an urgency to defend moderate Senator Bill Nelson against Gov. Rick Scott – friction exists about how to take back the governor's mansion and emerge from years of impotence in a bellwether state.

Hot Take: Where. To. Begin. First, don't you have to have a wave to find depth and clarity? I don't surf like I used to but I'm pretty sure that you do still need an actual funnel to a wave. Based on the current political polling and landscape we're talking about a Democratic chop with about 1-foot surf (which is about enough for a child to boogie board with at best). As of now the entire premise of this story is false but there's more. Bill Nelson's a moderate? Since when? That's long been one of the greatest political falsehoods advanced in this state.

During the current Congress that started in January of 2017, Bill Nelson has voted with Chuck Schumer 85% of the time. What's moderate about that? To give you an idea – an actual, more moderate Democrat – Joe Manchin of West Virgina has voted with Schumer 68% of the time. To give you an idea of how much more partisan Bill Nelson is than is falsely portrayed around our state... Marco Rubio has voted with Chuck Schumer 32% of the time. Now which Florida Senator – Nelson or Rubio is generally portrayed as the most partisan? Rubio is 25% less partisan, than the solidly partisan Nelson.

Until Tomorrow...
