The inconvenient truth & teachable moment presented by Rep. Omar
Bottom Line: On one hand it’s disconcerting that someone as politically radical as Minnesota Representative Omar is serving in Congress. On the other hand, she’s providing teachable moment after teachable moment for those who’re ignorant about militant Islam. In part due to ignorance and in part due to political correctness most people don’t have the first clue what hard core Islamists stand for. You’ve been conditioned that terrorists aren’t really Islamists and that the rest of hard-core Islamists want sunshine and lollipops. None of that’s true. I’ve depicted this for years, but to be brief it’s like this. Islam is full of different sects – not unlike most other religions. What’s different is that what we call terrorism is actually a sect of Islam called for in the Koran by Mohammad himself. It’s carried out through Sharia law.
There are currently twelve countries that govern according to Sharia:
- Afghanistan
- Indonesia
- Iran
- Iraq
- Maldives
- Mauritania
- Nigeria
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Sudan
- UAE
- Yemen
Notice a general trend there? Nearly all terrorist sponsoring nations, right?
Then you have about 30 other countries that use tenants of Sharia within their government without strict interpretation. Now does this mean they view the world the way you do, or more likely are they just stopping short of stoning women to death for being raped for example. Point is while there are peaceful sects of Islam, there are wide swaths of the world that are radical. As I often say the most pervasive form of bias in news media is omission.
The Pew Research Center studied this topic in 2013 and found that all told about 51% of Muslims believe in Sharia law. That's where this becomes a much bigger issue. While most won't "radicalize" as terrorists, those who adhere to the strict tenants also have proven that they won't often stand in the way of those who do decide to join the caliphate.

It’s just that most of these are in Africa or the part of the middle-east so it’s easy for the news media to ignore it. What’s most interesting is that as African refugee, you’d think that Rep. Omar might be concerned about what’s happening in Africa. For example, the past two days this happened:

But to Representative Omar clearly her concern is Israel which she’s referred to as “evil”. Now if you’re wondering where that comes from, I’ll refer you to the Koran. In defense of Representative Omar, the rest of us that don’t see that world as see does are infidels. But why let facts get in the way of political correctness right? The teachable moment, for those interested in the truth, is that Rep. Omar is simply representing her sect of Islam. The truth hurts or kills as the case can be.
