Record high approval for Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida
Bottom Line:This is politically neutral Florida, land of diversity and divisive politics so the day will likely come when Governor Ron DeSantis isn’t riding approval ratings that consistently break records for popularity, but that day isn’t today. After another week in office, Governor Ron DeSantis has managed to top his already impressive record high approval ratings for a Florida Governor.
The new Florida Chamber of Commerce polling is out,and Ron DeSantis is now sporting a net approval rating of +45%.
- 58% approval to only 13% disapproval
That’s not just a new high for Ron in his early days as governor. That’s the highest margin for a Florida governor I’ve seen from credible polling. To put this in perspective Ron DeSantis is now the third most popular governor in the country behind only Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and Larry Hogan of Maryland. As an aside, the top ten rated governors in the country all happen to be Republicans currently...there’s likely a bigger story in there somewhere.
Anyway, fact remains that Governor DeSantis’s bold agenda and swift action are being received about as well as he could possibly hope for at this point. What’s more is that we’re entering a new era heading into this state session. For several years, despite Republicans holding control state government, the divisions between Governor Scott and the legislators led to a lot of infighting and division. With Governor DeSantis’s political capital seemingly growing by the day – he has a chance to be Florida’s version of a Reagan with heavy influence of the state’s priorities during the upcoming state session. This will be worth watching. Few would have guessed this could ever have been the case after a nasty election cycle with such a close election outcome. It’s impressive to watch.
