Want to start a business? It (almost) doesn’t get better than South Florida
Bottom Line: We’ve once again recently had reason to talk about the benefits of South Florida for businesses – with Amazon’s New York rejection. Here’s another one that has nothing to do with HQ2. GoBankingRates.com completed a study of the top cities/metros for small businesses across the country and guess who’s #2? Here’s what they had to say about the Miami metro.
Miami
- State sales tax:6.00%
- Local sales tax:1.00%
- Rate of new entrepreneurs:0.56%
- Rate of startup growth:60.30%
If you’re thinking of starting a business in Florida, Miami might be a good pick. Miami ranks No. 1 on the list for the rate of new entrepreneurs, and Expert Market ranked the city No. 2 for best cities for minority entrepreneurs. And even though the city’s total tax rate ranks in the top 5 lowest, startup growth is in the bottom five for the list, which explains why the city wasn’t quite able to snag the standing of No. 1 overall.
That’ll work right? So, literally you’d have to go across the country (to Portland and who’d rather be there than here?) to find a better place to start a business. Yay us!
