First dates & Sex
Bottom Line: The pressure on first dates has arguably never been higher. If you’re a parent this might not be the news you wanted to hear. If you’re dating, well I guess this is instructive informationally about what’s going on these days. Here’s the deal. An English study of 2,000 people found that most adults have had sex on a first date. The male/female splits are also fairly even– 58% of men and 56% of women.
And surprise, surprise – the hookups usually don’t work out. Only 36% of women and 34% of men had a long-lasting relationship with someone they were intimate with on a first date. But part of what’s driving this is the apparent lessening of the taboo of attempting to do so. Only 17% of women and 11% of men say they look down on someone who attempts activity on the first date.
Evidently with fewer inhibitions and lower standards – we're seeing the result. And just as you might expect it’s generally not leading to constructive relationships. I’m not sure what you want to do with all of this aside from putting your child in bubbles like mine would have been if we’d had them but there you go. Now go be the best version of yourself if you’re dating or something.
