- The full Legislature approved legislation expanding the Guardian program to include qualified teachers in districts that enable them to do so. Participation would require 144 hours of training (including active shooter training)
- June 18th is set for a Senate hearing for former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel
- The differences in Sanctuary legislation between the House and Senate have yet to reconcile with the House passing a version that kicks it back the Senate. Clock is quickly ticking if they’re going to get this passed. It’s potentially still in doubt... more to come
- Industrial Hemp being legalized and regulated under the Florida Department of Agriculture passed the House unanimously and now moves to the Senate where it has a likely path to passage. The bill also included the provision that’d enable gardens for homeowners that have been prohibited from growing by local governments
- The bill banning Doctors with cosmetic surgery violations from reopening operations in the state for a minimum of 5 years passed the full Legislature
- The “Scooter Bill” that regulates scooters statewide passed the full Legislature. It would enable scooters to use bike lanes but still allows local governments to regulate within the city
- The infrastructure bill that expands the turnpike to Tampa, creates a new highway between Collier and Polk counties and expands the Seacoast Expressway to the Georgia border passed the full Legislature. It’s unclear if Governor DeSantis will sign
