- Former MSD officer Scot Peterson was arrested and charged with seven counts of neglect of a child, three counts of culpable negligence and one count of perjury after the conclusion of FDLE’s 15-month investigation into his conduct during the attack at Stoneman Douglas. Here’s a quote from the FDLE: “The FDLE investigation shows former Deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the MSD shooting that killed 17 children, teachers and staff and injured 17 others,”
- The MSD Safety Commission began a two-day meeting to review additional safety concerns. Specifically, Broward’s Emergency Management system and a review of Broward’s Promise Program. During the meeting Chairman, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, also addressed criticism of the recent expansion of the Guardian program: “If people want to disagree with it, fine. Disagree with it,” Gualtieri said of the measure. “But disagree based on fact. Don’t make up your own facts and then say you disagree with it because it’s an inadequate program. It’s not.”
