- The Florida Public Service Commission approved of Duke Energy’s proposal to recoup $32 million annually for three years for the construction of three new solar plants. This decision likely impacts the current FPL standoff over the optional “Solar Together” programs that state regulators recently called into question by providing a road map for FPL to follow – should they choose to do so.
- TECO People's Gas, which is currently involved in the investigation into Saturday’s Plantation explosion, received approval from state regulators to recoup damages from past hurricanes with surcharges that will be imposed on customer bills August through December.
- Florida’s first District Court of Appeal’s ruled that Florida’s 2017 law regulating the medical marijuana industry statewide was invalid as it restricts the industry beyond what the Constitutional Amendment states. If this ruling stands, it is being appealed, it would lift limits on licenses issued for operators and growers statewide.
- Ft. Lauderdale Commissioners approved a deal with David Beckham’s group to convert the nonoperational Lockhart Stadium into an MLS complex. The plan would be for Beckham’s team to play out of the complex for the next two seasons – while development of the Miami Freedom Park takes place. Afterwards the Fort Lauderdale complex would be used as a training facility.
