Bacterial Disease From Insects Affecting Florida Palm Trees

An insect could cause problems for Florida palm trees.

The bugs known as leaf-hoppers or plant-hoppers carry a tree disease called Lethal Bronzing.

Officials say the bacterial disease has been spreading after the first case was located in Tampa.

If a palm tree is infected, it must either be cut down or given a liquid medicine every three months at a cost of up to 50 dollars per treatment.
