- By a 25-15 vote the Florida Senate upheld Governor DeSantis’s suspension of former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel. All but one Republican, Tom Lee voted for the suspension. All but three Democrats, Randolph Bracy, Darryl Rousson and Annette Taddeo voted against the suspension.
- The $1.5 billion Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino project is complete. The world’s first guitar shaped hotel is ready for its grand opening. It features 638 rooms, 19 restaurants, stands 450 feet tall and a 13.5-acre lake complete with cabanas and kayaks.
- Brightline’s new estimate suggests adding proposed stations in Boca, Aventura and Port Miami would lead to greater than 2 million passengers annually. In 2018 Brightline served 579,000 passengers. Through September they’d already exceeded that total serving 701,000 passengers.
- According to Florida’s Surgeon General a quarter of all Florida high school students have vaped within the past month while stating that Florida now has 70 vaping-related illnesses reported statewide. Quoting him: "Youth should not vape, and adults need to be aware of the fact that if they vape they can be exposed to a very significant and potentially life-threatening condition."
