- Governor Ron DeSantis launched protectingfloridatogether.gov which provides water quality information in real time for Lake Okeechobee and the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers. It’s also designed to provide updates on Red tide, Algal blooms and provides the opportunity for residents to report monitored issues.
- UsingLiDar, Scientists investigating the Deepwater Horizon site discovered an ancient settlement on Raleigh Island that dates to between 900 and 1200 A.D.
- The Florida Public Service Commission rejected lowering energy efficiency standards for Florida’s Utilities. Proposals from Florida’s five largest utilities would have rolled back standards to 2015 levels.
- Arguments about financial restitution being a condition of the restoration of felon voting rights will be presented to Florida’s Supreme Court today.It appears as though few felons have attempted to register to vote statewide this year after the passage of the Constitutional amendment last year. There are 1.4 million former felons potentially impacted in Florida by the amendment, yet there are only 83,838 net new voters registered in total in 2019 thus far.
