- Former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel has sued to be reinstated as sheriff in federal court. This after having his suspension by Governor DeSantis upheld by the state Senate earlier this year.
- Carol Hudson, Vice President of Marketing for Broward, purchased $182,000 worth of beer koozies from her own company Saints Enterprises, without disclosure – according to a county audit. Hudson has resigned and Auditor Bob Melton has referred the findings to the state for potential charges to be considered.
- A state audit of the SunPass billing failures showed the company responsible for the billing Conduent, which the state has fined more than $10 million and is moving on from, never properly tested their new software before taking it live in Florida. The audit also showed FDOT not catching warning signs in advance of the failures including Conduent running over-budget and consistently missing target deadlines for markers leading up to the launch.
- As Thanksgiving travel picks up Florida’s average gas price is $2.36 per gallon, that’s 11 cents cheaper than a year ago and the lowest in four years for the week of Thanksgiving
