- A proposed Constitutional Amendment by All Voters Vote that would allow for any registered voters to vote in any primary race – regardless of party has collected the necessary signatures to qualify for inclusion on the 2020 ballot. They do still have to collect additional signatures in twelve Congressional Districts to meet state standards for inclusion on the 2020 ballot, but they’ve reached the highest hurdle in the process.
- AG Ashley Moody has asked Florida’s Supreme Court, on behalf of the DeSantis administration, to reject an appeal to the Coral Gables to ban Styrofoam. The Florida Retail Federation is backing Moody’s request.
- Brightline says it’s on track to open its proposed new stops in Aventura and Boca Raton by October of next year. Boca’s City Council takes up a vote on the proposed station December 10th.
- Florida’s Department of Corrections Secretary Mark Inch is calling for an overhaul to Florida’s prison system. In recent years the system has fallen from a rating of “excellence” to “marginal”. Approximately 70% of the 95,000 inmates has a substance abuse issue at the time of imprisonment. Low pay for prison guards has led to high turnover and increased likelihood of introducing contraband into prisons.
