  • Florida Tax Watch’s 40th anniversary will be celebrated with its annual meeting taking place at the Breakers on Wednesday. The event will feature U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Rep.Brian Mast, Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Noah Valenstein and VISIT FLORIDA President Dana Young.
  • According to a study by the American Railroad Administration, Brightline is the deadliest railroad per mile in the country out of the 821 operators in the US. 
  • Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration stated they’ll reject licenses for any nursing home facility that hasn’t or can’t meet the legal safeguards required by the state including the ability to power facilities and maintain safe temperatures for a minimum of four days. To date the state has rejected licenses to three facilities and fined 280 others for violations of state law after the failures at the Hollywood Hills Rehabilitation Center following hurricane Irma
  • Boating has resulted in 119 manatee deaths in 2019 according to state officials – making it the top cause of death. By comparison only 60 have died of natural causes.
