- Florida has multiple cities among the top destinations in the Americas according to Euromonitor International. Orlando is #6 and Miami #2. This further illustrates the potential advantage of having the Brightline connection from Miami to Orlando that’s currently under construction.
- The Army Corp of Engineers released their latest report on water levels in Lake Okeechobee. The lake ended hurricane season at 13 feet – which is just above the low-end target level. Entering the dry season, it’s likely levels will drop making it unlikely that the Corp would consider discharges for at least the first half of 2020.
- Florida’s Supreme Court heard arguments to consider the proposed constitutional amendment that’d overhaul Florida’s primary system allowing open primaries. Both major political parties are opposed, and AG Ashley Moody is arguing against the measure on behalf of the state.
- The 1-minute rapid HIV test, INSTI, is being rolled out statewide after recent approval by the Florida Department of Health. 100,000 Floridians are estimated to have HIV with 15% who currently are unaware.
