- The Census Bureau is accepting applications for 2020 Census workers in Florida. An estimated 32,500 temporary Census workers will be hired (my estimate based on population) at an hourly rate of $19.50 per hour.
- According to the Environmental Research and Education Foundation, in conjunction with the University of Florida, found over 100 local ordinances targeting fertilizers statewide that often cause more harm than good. According to the findings local governments often set regulations without consideration for scientific findings or facts. The positive environmental impact of healthy landscape plants and vegetation more than offsets negative impacts of residential fertilizers.
- The Archbold Biological Station found that all of Florida, with the exception of what’s now Clermont, was underwater as recently as two million years ago. These findings are being released and discussed as part of the ongoing discussion of handling sea level rise in our state.
- $112 million has been recovered and delivered to 3,750 victims of 1 Global Captial which operated in Hallandale Beach. Victims are receiving approximately 40% of their initial investment into what turned out to be a fraudulent investment firm. 1 Global Capital raised $330 million from South Florida investors over a four-year period prior to collapsing due to fraud.
