- According to an FDOT report, 42% of all SunPass Toll-by-Plate transactions have to be manually reviewed because of the readers having problems reading many of Florida's custom tags. Florida currently has 123 different license plate options. Last year the state mandated a standard font for all tags, however most Floridians have older tags. The tag issues result in the loss of millions in revenue to the state, along with millions in additional cost due to the frequent manual reviews.
- Disbarred attorney, Christopher Chestnut, who was personally involved with Andrew Gillum’s gubernatorial campaign has been referred for investigation of voter fraud in 2018. According to the Department of State, Christopher lived in Georgia last year but voted in Florida. The information was revealed in bankruptcy court records in which he listed an Atlanta address as his permanent address. Christopher’s mother is currently the chair of the Alachua County Democratic Party.
- Florida will be adding six new cruise ships to ports across the state in 2020, including news ships from Carnival, Celebrity, Princess Cruises’, Royal Caribbean and Virgin.
- The Space Coast Regional Airport in Brevard cleared its second to last hurdle by the FAA to be granted a commercial space license after clearing an environmental impact study. A public hearing will be held on January 8th for final questions to be addressed prior to the issuance of a spaceport license which would open up the facility for commercial spacecraft.
