- Governor DeSantis announced the CDC has confirmed two COVID-19 cases. A man from Manatee County who did not have a travel history and obtained it from an unknown source. The other is a woman in her 20’s from Hillsbourgh who’d recently traveled to Northern Italy. The state is actively monitoring 184 people for potential exposure to the virus. Florida has monitored a total of 795 people to date.
- Rewards for information leading to arrests for the dolphins which had been stabbed and shot on Florida’s gulf coast have been raised to a total of $54,000. Florida Fish and Wildlife in conjunction with NOAA are teaming up to find the perpetrators.
- Movers in Monday’s state session included...The term limits bill for school board members, terms limits for the Office of Public Counsel which – which helps set policy for utilities in the state, mandating E-Verify for business hiring, a bill that’d ban surprise medical billing from emergency airlifts, Ryan Petty’s confirmation in the state senate for a seat on the Board of Education, Drone use for controlling invasive species, the ban on shark fin sales, The bill that’d reduce regs on E-Bikes,and the moment of silence for students at the start of the school day.
- Elections Supervisors across the state are reporting high levels of inquiries about reissuing early voting and absentee ballots after Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the Democrat’s presidential race. Sixteen Democrats are on Florida’s ballot for the March 17th primary but only four viable candidates remain in the race.
