PB North Chamber Holds Daily Virtual Events To Keep Businesses Connected

We'll find out this week whether Florida lifts its Stay-at-Home order soon, as small businesses continue to struggle.

Noel Martinez, President and CEO of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce offers advice to business owners.

"The number one thing that I can say is don't panic. Take care of yourself. You've got to keep calm, right? This can be a very difficult time, especially because most of us are having cash fllow issues right now, just like anyone else."

But he says that if you can keep the right frame of mind, it will benefit your employees and your cash flow.

"If you remain calm, your team will in turn also remain calm and ultimately a healthier mindset for everyone to help you come up with innovative ways and ideas to move forward."

The best way to remain calm, Martinez says, is to take care of your health. Stay active and eat well.

He also urges business owners to tap into state and federal programs available like loans and grants, including a Federal Payroll Tax Credit program, "which can help save you up to $10,000 off each employee."

And Noel says now is the time to experiment with new ideas.

"Some of us have a little more time on our hands and there's no better time to find, if you can find other services to offer...do it."

He says you should brain storm with your peers and competitors because everyone's in the same boat. "We're all trying to figure out how to reignite our economy. There's no better way to get through this than together."

Finally, Martinez urges everyone to shop local and hire local. The Chamber will be launching a campaign to that end once businesses are allowed to reopen.

Meanwhile, they're holding virtual events for members every weekday, including "Motivational Mondays."

"This is an opportunity for us to feature some of our members. In the past, we've had topics like maintaining the positive. Like how your outlook can help you weather through any storm."

There are also "Wellness Wednesdays" and "Fitness Fridays", featuring workouts that you can follow on Facebook and do in your own living room.

The Chamber holds Virtual Business Seminars on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
