- A federal judge has allowed the NRA’s challenge of the age restrictions under Florida’s Stoneman Douglas Safety Act to proceed.The gun control measures passed under the law in the wake of the shooting at Stoneman Douglas raised the legal age to 21 in Florida.Florida AG Ashley Moody stands in opposition to the NRA’s suit and asked for a dismissal of the case which was denied by Justice Mark Walker.
- Florida’s Chief Justice has decided to postpone all jury trials until at least July 2nd statewide. Hearings and other court business will continue remotely until normal operations resume.
- With Florida’s phase one reopening off to a positive start across the state – with the exception of South Florida, Governor DeSantis previewed phase two reopening plans. He said there are parts of the state where high seating capacity would be acceptable now and that he’d have no fear taking his family to a restaurant.
- The governor also stated antibody testing will begin at drive up sites next week across the state, providing near real-time information to communities and the state.Starting today, an RV with rapid test kits will begin to make its way across the state testing in nursing homes and elder care facilities.
- New Data presented by the Florida Department of Health suggests as many as 171 Floridians may have had COVID-19 as early as January 1st. Those residents were treated for symptoms similar to COVID-19 and later tested positive for the virus.
