- Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody echoed US AG William Barr’s sentiments that defunding police is irresponsible. This comes after a meeting with President Trump in which she issued this statement:I am thankful that President Donald J. Trump included Florida in this extremely important conversation about law enforcement at the White House today. As the wife of an officer, I have seen firsthand what these men and women do for our communities, and while our nation continues to seek improvements in policing, we need to make sure any changes are thoughtful and effective.
- Governor DeSantis signed a series of bills passed during the legislative session into law on Tuesday. They included the allowance for unused prescription drugs to be donated to the Florida Department of Health, laws pertaining to the state’s infrastructure, emergency response, electric vehicle policy & expanding broadband internet service to rural parts of the state.
- NASCAR announced 1,000 members of the military in Florida will be invited to the race in Homestead on June 14th. This will be the first attended sporting event in Florida since the pandemic began.
- Enterprise Florida will renew its effort to recruit businesses to Florida starting July 1st. A new plan being finalized for the upcoming fiscal year includes the resumption of international travel and recruitment of businesses to Florida starting in the fourth quarter this year. There’s wide belief that the reevaluation of business models during the pandemic could work in Florida’s favor for relocation's.
- Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott have introduced legislation which would encourage future U.S. Space industry manufacturing in the US. Under the bill, tax breaks would be given to US Space companies which manufacture space craft within the United States. The bill has bi-partisan support in the House and Senate and could spur growth on the Space Coast.
- Governor DeSantis approved Palm Beach County’s plan for reopening vacation rentals. PBC becomes the 55th county in the state to reopen them.
