Pasco Schools Announce Reopening Plans

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Pasco County rolls out its plan for reopening schools in August.

Superintendent Kurt Browning says there will be three options for families... traditional school and two forms of online learning.

Traditional school will have the same locations and bell times as before, but new rules will be in place to combat the spread of COVID-19. Students will be required to social distance. Cleaning will be done more often and hand sanitizers will be available. Masks will not be required on campus but will be "expected" on buses.

For families that don't feel comfortable with regular school, there is a version of online learning that is very similar to the distance learning that was offered this spring. Students will remain part of a particular school and will get one on one instruction. But they'll have to attend at certain times.

The third option is the Florida Virtual School, which allows students to proceed at their own pace and take classes outside traditional hours.

Parents and students must choose an option by July 1st, and any changes must be made at semester break.

School reopens August 10th.
